New year, new blog

Two goals in my writing life are to write daily and to write the elusive "short hook" intro to a story! I’ve tried. Really, I’ve tried. But while there are many adjectives one might use to describe me, pithy is not one of them. Those who know me know that I can barely say hello in 100 words.

So, with a nod to excellent prompt writing sites such as “Thinking Ten”, I’m going to choose a prompt, write for 15 minutes, edit to make it tolerable, and post it here. And if I ever actually write a true “hook”, there may be trumpets.

You can join in the fun! I’m hoping some intrepid fellow writers will join me in tackling the writing prompts. To that end, I’ll be tweeting and FaceBooking the prompts and inviting you to try your hand. Take my prompt, write for 15 minutes, edit as you see fit, and share your results here! I am always thrilled at the endless variety of imagination. We can help each other grow as writers with some constructive commentary, and have fun along the way. Let’s see what we can create!

I will occasionally take a break from prompt writing to regale you with tales of dog and cat wrangling, tween parenting, and convention roaming. I don't even have to make those up.
